Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy; mostly harmless
So a lot of people know this book from the movie that was based on the work, and people either really like the works by Douglas Adams or don't like them at all. This entry is from my second attempt at reading this book, because a lot of the books that I read in high school were not as enjoyed as books that I read now, especially if I go back and reread them. It may just be that I am a little more mature and understand things in the books differently, or are taking the information given to me in a different fashion that appeals to me more. I really appreciate when Arthur finds out that the only blurb about planet Earth is that the population is harmless. It really opens your eyes to how people believe themselves to be the center of the universe, even though we really aren't. Its a wonderful piece of absurdist writing, and from his work, I hope to read more in this genre.
